1. Product Introduction

1.1 Product Description
The WL 440 free and forced convection equipment is designed to help students understand and comprehend convection heat transfer, one of the three major heat transfer modes in thermodynamics. Convection heat transfer can be divided into natural convection and forced convection. Natural convection is caused by the uneven density of the spatial fluid due to the uneven temperature field of the spatial fluid. Forced convection is caused by the flow of fluid driven by external forces such as fans or pumps.
The WL 440 free and forced convection equipment is mainly composed of a vertical pipe with a detachable heating element, several sensors (including a handheld temperature probe), a waterproof electrical adapter box and a power supply box. The vertical pipe with a detachable heating element is the core component of the experimental bench. A temperature sensor (T1) is installed at the air inlet at the lower end of the vertical pipe, and a sensor for measuring wind speed is also installed above the T1 sensor. Three different types of heating elements can be installed in the middle of the vertical pipe, namely, a tube bundle heat exchanger, a cylindrical heat exchanger, and a plate heat exchanger. Each heat exchanger is equipped with a temperature sensor (T4). A 24V adjustable axial fan is installed at the upper air outlet of the vertical duct. A temperature sensor (T4) is installed below the axial fan. The handheld temperature probe (T3) can be inserted in the middle of the vertical duct (holes are reserved in the duct). Multiple sensor transmitters are installed in the waterproof electrical adapter box, which can transmit sensor data to the electrical box for processing.
