SS250603A-G-9 DIGITAL BASIC HYDRAULIC BENCH Teaching Workbench Equipment Educational Technology Lab Fluid Mechanics Equipment
DESCRIPTION
v The unit be designed as a portable and self-contained service module for a range of 30+ accessories.
v The Unit is supplied as standard with. Each accessory be available with education software which provides automatic calculation of required results using manually input measurements, along with help texts detailing experimental procedures.
v Each accessory should be supplied as a complete piece of equipment needing no additional service items other than the Hydraulics Bench. When coupled to the bench they should be immediately ready for use.
v The bench be constructed from lightweight corrosion resistant plastic and mounted on wheels for mobility.
v The bench top incorporate an open flow channel with ledges along both sides to support the accessory on test.
v The bench include a digital flow meter to display the flow rate" at all times mounted on the front face of the unit. v The open end of the channel incorporate a weir carrier and the walls of the channel incorporate a pair of slots for use with the ‘Flow over Weirs’ accessory.
v Volumetric measurement be used as the method of flow measurement for its ease of use, accuracy and safety in use. v The volumetric measuring tank be stepped to accommodate low or high flow rates.
v High flow volumetric tank be 40 litres.
v Low flow volumetric tank be 6 litres.
v A stilling baffle be incorporated to reduce turbulence and a remote sight tube with scale be incorporated to give an instantaneous indication of water level. A measuring cylinder be included in the supply for measurement of very small flow rates.
v There be a dump valve in the base of the volumetric tank which is operated by remote actuator. There should be an overflow in the volumetric tank to avoid flooding.
v Water be drawn from the sump tank by a centrifugal pump v Sump tank capacity be 250 litres.
v Maximum head be 21m H20.
v Maximum flow be 80litres/min when using volumetric tank.
v Maximum flow be 100litres/min when using appropriate accessory.
v Height of working surface be 1m above floor level v A panel mounted control valve be used to regulate the flow from the pump to an easy-to-use quick release pipe connector situated in the floor of the moulded channel in the bench top. v A flexible supply pipe should be incorporated on most accessories which simply attaches to the quick release connector to allow for the rapid exchange of accessories without the need for hand tools.
v Where higher flow rates are necessary, the quick release connector should be capable of being unscrewed and a full-bore coupling fitted in its place without the need for hand tools. v To give increased operator protection, the unit incorporate a Residual Current Device (RCD), alternatively called an Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker, as an integral part of the equipment. If through misuse or accident the equipment becomes electrically dangerous, the RCD should switch off the electrical supply and reduce the severity of any electric shock received by an operator to a level which, under normal circumstances, will not cause injury to that person.
v The unit also incorporate a Magnetic Circuit Breaker (MCB) which is used to protect the equipment from excess current. If the pump draws excess current then the MCB should turn off the electrical supply. The overall dimensions of the unit should be: Height: 1.00m, Width: 1.13m, Depth: 0.73m.
