1.1 Product Description
Air humidity measurement plays a vital role in many industrial sectors, such as in drying processes and in air conditioning systems in buildings and vehicles. There are many methods for measuring humidity.
The WL 201 trainer measures air humidity using four different instruments that are directly comparable: two different hygrometers, a capacitive hygrometer, and a wet-bulb hygrometer.
Wet-bulb hygrometers determine humidity based on the principle of evaporative cooling by comparing ambient temperature with the wet-bulb temperature. Hygrometers exploit the property of certain fibers (such as hair) that expand as air humidity increases. In capacitive sensors, the dielectric constant of a layer and its capacitance change due to absorbed water molecules.
The core component of the trainer is a climate chamber with a transparent door. This chamber can humidify and dehumidify and contains four instruments. A Peltier cooling element is used for dehumidification. The humidifier uses an ultrasonic atomizer. A fan is used to circulate the air and ensure good mixing.
